Scalefree – Agile Big Data Management

In the main, state institutions and companies have built extensive IT systems over many years, often with various thematic emphases, and on different technological platforms. Both the extension of, and linkage between, these systems can be incredibly complicated and cost intensive. Dan Linstead is the founder of the Data Vault method, and, together with Michael Olschimke, he has founded the Big Data advisory company Scalefree. The methods of Data Vault 2.0 allow an until now inconceivable and comparably very easy way to smoothly expand and link existing databanks. Data Vault is the primary product of Michael Olschimke's consultancy firm mbH - together with general consultation and training services.

We were commissioned with developing a visual identity for Scalefree as a brand and company, with which the Olschimke consultancy firm mbH is to be represented. The primary design element is the visual icon of the logo, which presents the Data Vault 2.0 method as an infinitely extendable pattern, for particular and general data linking. Aside from a specific typography, a stringent colour climate and consistent layout guidelines, an individualised visual language guarantees a high level of brand recognisability. For this, we collaged an extensive set of illustrations in order to set aside our design from those typical of the existing market. Additionally, we created a set of guidelines for portrait photos and the use of photos within our design.

Aside the conception of the corporate identity and its realisation in a corporate design, we customised the company's office equipment - and created its modern website. In order to support a smooth operation for the international business activity of Scalefree, suitable media for Google Docs and Slides were optimised in order to correspond to Microsoft Office Templates. These templates, which are editable and printable by the Scalefree team, were “framed” with image media. Together with a careful choice of paper and top-quality printing - which we oversaw - these elements combine to create a particularly powerful and professional impression.
