The 17th German Child and Youth Day took place from May 18 to 20, 2021. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this was the first time in its 50-year history that it was purely digital. 37,000 visitors* took part in the three free event days and used our digital arena to educate themselves, gather information and exchange ideas.
Under the motto "We're making the future - now!" the topics included child protection, the growing need for skilled workers, democracy, digitization, sustainability and inclusion.
Since the 17th DJHT took place exclusively digitally, the desire to document it digitally was obvious. In addition to a cost-effective technical implementation, it was also a matter of sifting through the vast amounts of texts, video material and images, sorting them and putting them into small portions in an appealing and entertaining form. For this we worked together with Cornelia Altenburg as editorial reinforcement of the team.
The technical implementation was based on a Wordpress, storytelling tool which we adapted to our needs in an agile work process always in a joint discussion with customers and developers. We added infoboxes and quotes to the template. Within the framework of the existing corporate design, we developed additional icons, a suitable visual language and infographics to bring some variety into the abundance of screenshots.
