From the 8th of March to the 13th of April 2013, the gallery and project space LAGE EGAL opened its doors for the exhibition Leer-stelle (EMPTY-PLACE) by Daniela Gugg and Thomas Prochnow. At the closing, a special Artists’ Edition was published with the title 0020. Its aim was to supplement the exhibition by providing the texts and images of the various authors. In addition, the two artists each made their own contributions to the edition.
The idea behind the edition was to enable everybody to take a piece of the exhibition home to enjoy – even after the exhibition had come to an end. 0020 is therefore a logical extension of the gallery name LAGE EGAL (English: “location doesn’t matter”) in combination with the idea behind the exhibition itself. It transports the idea of a “sameness of place”, and fills possible empty places that exist elsewhere.
The graphic realisation is consciously restrained, placing the work of the two artists in the foreground, connected only by the signifying orange colour that creates a framework in which everything occurs. In order to emphasize the character of the blank or empty space, we designed an envelope in which the individual pieces are arranged as a loose-leaf collection. In this way, exhibition visitors can take the individual elements of different "empty-places" home with them to fill walls, shelves, etc. The limited edition is available through LAGE EGAL.
